We started Ka-Kite-Kutu Clinic to help parents treat their child's hair lice and nits in a way that is affordable and accessible to everyone in the community.

We know that hair lice and nit problems can become more difficult when your child is attending school each day so we provide an initial appointment and then recommend a follow-up appointment to ensure the head lice have been successfully taken care of.

We are a community focused organisation and would encourage you to reach out if you have any concerns about head lice in your child's hair and we can offer suggestions and advice to you as well as doing an assessment at our clinic.

We are an NGO (Non-Government Organisation) and not for profit. We help other Rotorua community projects such as starting community vegetable gardens, planting fruit and nut trees, educating people on self-sufficiency and assisting with the restoration of homes in the community. In short, we are here for you and the Rotorua community.

The initial assessment is free but the cost for treatment is as follows:

Boys: $49.00

Girls (hair up to 30cm in length): $69.00

Girls (hair length between 30cm - 50cm): $99.00

Excessive Hair Lice: $250.00

The cost of a treatment is determined by the DENSITY OF LICE and the LENGTH OF HAIR.

What we cannot guarantee

We cannot guarantee that you will not get head lice again, as a re-infestation can present itself through many avenues, such as:

Our mobile service

Ka-kite-kutu-Clinic offers a mobile service to Homes and Schools. It’s private, it’s convenient and it’s simple. Screenings are $5 per person. Mobile hourly rate is $150 per hour, travel included.
